  • Summary of The Secrets of Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Eker

Writing a summary of The book “The Secrets of the Millionaire Mind has been long thought to me which came to my head once I finished reading it in 2012.

The book “The Secrets of the Millionaire Mind” by T. Harv Eker is like a treasure map for those seeking financial success. It’s not just about finding the X that marks the spot, but also about the journey of self-discovery that leads you there.

The map begins with an exploration of your “money blueprint,” the set of beliefs and attitudes you have about money that have been ingrained in you since childhood. This is like the compass that guides you on your journey. It tells you where you’re starting from and which direction to go in.

Once you’ve become aware of your money blueprint, you can start to adjust it. Think of it like adjusting the sails on a ship. With the right adjustments, you can catch the winds that will take you to your destination.

Eker provides 17 “wealth files” that are like landmarks on your journey. These are the habits and beliefs that millionaires have in common, and they can serve as guideposts to help you stay on track. Think of them like lighthouses that keep you from drifting off course.

Some of these wealth files are like mountains that you have to climb. They require effort and determination, but the view from the top is worth it. For example, “rich people think big” is a wealth file that encourages you to dream beyond your current circumstances.

Other wealth files are like streams that flow naturally towards your goal. They’re easier to follow, but still require mindfulness and intention. For example, “rich people are committed to being rich” means making a conscious decision to prioritize your financial success.

The Secrets of the Millionaire Mind: Later

The second part of the book is like a toolkit for building wealth. Eker provides practical advice and tools to help you implement the wealth files and make progress towards your financial goals. It’s like a set of tools that you can use to build your own financial empire.

But just having the tools isn’t enough. You also need the courage to use them. Think of it like building a bridge across a chasm. You can have all the materials you need, but you still have to take the first step and lay the foundation.

Eker acknowledges that building wealth is not easy. It’s like a long hike through rugged terrain. There will be obstacles and setbacks, but with the right mindset and tools, you can overcome them and keep moving forward.

Ultimately, the journey to financial success is like a pilgrimage. It requires dedication, faith, and perseverance. But the reward at the end is like a holy grail. It’s not just about the wealth itself, but about the sense of purpose and fulfillment that comes from achieving your goals.

In the end, “The Secrets of the Millionaire Mind” is like a map and toolkit that can help you navigate the terrain of financial success. But it’s up to you to take the first step and start the journey.

Think of it like a seed that you plant in fertile soil. With the right amount of water, sunlight, and care, that seed will grow into a strong and resilient plant. Similarly, with the right mindset and habits, your financial success can grow from a small seed into a flourishing garden.

But just as a garden requires maintenance and attention, so too does your financial success. You can’t just plant the seed and expect it to grow on its own. You have to water it, prune it, and protect it from pests and disease. In the same way, you have to continue developing the habits and mindset of successful people in order to maintain and grow your wealth.

Eker also emphasizes the importance of giving back to others. It’s like the fruit that your garden produces. When you have an abundance of wealth, you can use it to help others and make a positive impact in the world. Just as a fruit tree gives back to the soil that nourished it, you can give back to the people and causes that have supported you along your journey.

    A Sarcastic Metaphor within

One of the most powerful metaphors in the book is the idea of the “financial thermostat.” This is like the temperature control on your heating and cooling system. Just as you can adjust the temperature in your home, you can also adjust your financial thermostat to increase your income and wealth.

But like a thermostat, your financial set point can be set too high or too low. If it’s set too low, you may struggle to make ends meet and never achieve your full potential. If it’s set too high, you may be constantly chasing after more money and never feel satisfied.

Eker provides practical tools and exercises to help you adjust your financial thermostat to the right level. It’s like fine-tuning a musical instrument to produce the perfect sound. With the right adjustments, you can create a harmonious financial life that supports your goals and values.

Book is also Like a Symphony

In the end, “The Secrets of the Millionaire Mind” is like a symphony. Each wealth file, tool, and metaphor is like a different instrument that comes together to create a beautiful and inspiring piece of music. And just like a symphony, it requires the cooperation and coordination of many different parts to create a masterpiece.

But unlike a symphony, the journey to financial success is not just for the elite few. Anyone can learn and apply the principles in this book to create a life of abundance and fulfillment. So why not pick up a copy and start composing your own financial masterpiece today?

Worthwhile Check: How to Learn anything Fast, Effectively and Master

  • Learning, Career & Mentor during Corona and After- A Fresh Look for Youngsters

Corona has changed the world so much so that the World is not going to be the same again. We will all be living in a new world-order after this lockdown is over. I will talk particularly about the STUDY and TEACHING Space.

The schools have already taken initiative of imparting the classes online. My 6 year-old kid is sitting in chair for 3 hours before video streamed classes every day for a month now.

The colleges and universities too have to adopt the same pattern sooner or later. So, what are you waiting for, switch your learning and livelihood all to online?  Accept the reality and move on!

I have always emphasized many times to you all that Internet and YouTube are your biggest learning resources but only if you can learn how to use them properly. Interesting part is that the internet and YouTube both themselves teach you how you will use them to your best advantages. Tools are teaching you how you can make use of them!

Am I Able to Put Across My Message to You as to How Powerful Tool Internet is for Your Career?

See, my point is that you can ask the internet even how you will use it to your ends. Let me explain you this:  say, you are not very sure how you to use the Internet in most productive ways for yourself. So, you would open the browser and can start searching generic queries like:

“How to use Internet for your online studies”

“Using Internet for Study during Corona Time”

“Best use of YouTube for learning a Skill”

“What Skills Necessary to survive Corona Crisis”

    “NCERT book pdf”

And then to being more specific

“How to give maths Tuition Classes online”

    “NCERT History class IX”

    “Concepts of thermodynamics”

“How to write effective blog posts”

“How to drive traffic to my website” and so on and so forth.

Moreover, you will be able to perform all these searches by going directly to YouTube also. If you are having smartphone, the YouTube app works Just like a browser itself. Launch it and you are good to go.

Internet Can Overwhelm You with the Amount of Information available

Yes, this is the flip side of the learning from Internet. You might very soon get distracted if you have not jotted down beforehand what topic you actually want to search and master. Importantly, this is not the problems of beginners only; the problem is faced by veterans also who have been working online for quite some time too. But over the time they have developed a certain level of mental discipline that enables them digging deeper into the very topic they once started out with and avoid going wide with distractions.

In fact, the problem with human’s mind is that it has a tendency look for something new every moment. If you are reading an article on ancient history and a google ad is displaying on the very same page saying as “The Lies Behind Corona” you are tempted to click that Ad and then you are redirected to a different page altogether.

More dangerous could be clicking to an adult stuff ad on your page or deliberately having a feel to check with. These can be destroying your time and career both.

To stop yourself getting swayed with eye catching ads or urge to click on something new a very STRONG Self- discipline is required. This self- discipline comes from your everyday practice. Sooner or later you would need this self- discipline so the early you master it, the better it is for you.

The best way of developing a SELF CONTROL over the temptation of going distracted is defining a goal of writing every day. Say a 3000- 40000 world article a day. Make it habit to finish the article within single day itself. I am sure you will not have to allow your mind to wander, simple! This works for me and will work for too.

I am a man of different kind of temptation, it is called Intellectual Entertainment. Meaning, I would go on drifting for hours following a topic that might lead me to altogether a different topic. But when I sit with written Goals of Writing something of certain length, I find no time to drift.

In the space of online learning you are your own teacher and student both and no one will sit on your head to guide you, so you better first learn sticking to a Topic and keep working on it until you finish it.

Being Able to Buy Attention of a Number of People Means a Career for You

You may wonder that any advertisement, even a porn /adult stuff on the web has been purposely placed on the web by someone behind to consolidate his/her career at the expense of your time & money. Everyone on the web is highly opportunistic and wants to buy your attention in order to build his/ her career. The hard hitting fact of the adult Industry is that the actors working into it are there purely for money. Had they got better option they would have switched. Take the example of Sunny Leone one of the contestants of past Big boss seasons. Once she got assignments into the main stream TV and Bollywood she gave up her past profession and now living a settled life with her Husband and three adopted kids. She is running YouTube Channels, Reality Shows and E Commerce sites too. My Idea is wherever this actor goes, she is only after her career, her family and her parents. She is very honest to her profession whatsoever she takes up to. She doesn’t care for how others are wasting their time just to find later that she is no more in the Adult Industry.

Everyone is making money by buying your attention so why not you. Of course, your area of speciality (NICHE) will be different and yours own. For instance, if you are writing Good articles and making Quality videos which are ranking in Google search you are also able to buy people’s attention and hence your career and livelihood will be taken care of.

Why I have taken the example of Sunny is that she was once in 2014 most searched term on Google even more than PM Narendra Modi.

The More you are searched on Google the Bigger Career you own. Mind that, it is not necessarily your name that has to be searched most. It could also be about the content that you make or create for instance Article/ video. For more number of searches you content comes up in Google You earn more and you are better placed in career ladder. As simple as that

A more relevant example on that would be like: lets say you write on “Work From Home” and your articles come up in Google’s first page for this keyword search. Now because your articles are now able to grab attention of millions of people you have made a career out of it.

Internet is SOLUTION to Your EVERY PROBLEM and a Pandora Box Too.

Yes, if you learn using Internet wisely it can make you a Billionaire, a Celebrity or Else, it can also throw you into deep crisis. The deep crisis of poor attention, addiction of porn watching, sleeplessness, depression and anxiety and what not?

Why Not to Become a Billionaire?

Before I explain you why you should aspire becoming one, I’ll give you few guiding principles that I seriously believe in.

    • If you are born poor, it is not your fault, but if you die poor it is certainly yours.
    • There is no dearth of money in the world; there is limit to your imaginations.
    • It is not that when you become rich others get Poor. In fact, as you grow richer, life styles of many others is automatically raised. Total money is not in fixed amount so it is not that when you start more other are left with less. Money doesn’t work this way. In fact, more people start contributing in the economy there is MORE for EVERYONE.
    • Money Education /Financial Education are different from studying physics, maths or history.
    • Financial Education is not provided in Schools for Teachers themselves do not know how the WEALTH is created.
    • After doing One’s 10 th, one should start educating themselves about Finances and money as mere study of academic books gives you no guarantee to getting rich. Try to get closer to the one who is millionaire or Billionaire. The easiest way is to read books written by them to map their thought process.
    • LOVE the rich people and do LEARN how they make money. You cannot get rich while hating them.
    • 99% of rich are generous people they do give back to society more in many different ways you do not even think about.
    • 80% are self-made Billionaires, so you stand better chances of getting rich even if your parents are not rich.
    • The Rich are only different in their thought Process, they think and do act differently. If you can copy them you can also get rich. It is a LEARNING process.

90% of the money involved in the businesses of Ultra Rich People are either public money or Bank loans. And mind that before giving you a Rs 100Cr loan, the bank never asks you about your % marks in academics. Banks see you balance sheet – A statement that shows details of Money coming in and Going out in broader terms.

It Boils down that getting uber rich would depend upon your skill of mobilizing loans for your business empire which in turn depends upon your skill of making your balance sheet look HEALTHY.  Balance sheet looks healthy when MORE COMES IN and less goes out and NOT the Contrary. (To begin with You must read: RICH DAD – POOR DAD by Business Author: Robert T Kiyosaki)

How to Get Rich – The Simplest Model- Douglas Krugar Taught Me.

Figure Out ONE PARTICULAR ACTIVITY that brings money to your pocket and Keep doing that daily for long Enough in your life.

Charles M. Schulz, the famous Billionaire cartoonist of America used to spend 1 hour every day in drawing cartoons. These cartoons sold in 10,000 Newspapers and then collection of entire year in a separate magazine.

Successful Bloggers or Renowned authors use few hours everyday in writing at least 2000 words.

Income= Wage Per Hour X No. of Hours, because you cannot increase the number of your working hours beyond a limit so you should raise you value as you advance in life. As you raise your value, think about turning your skills into Enterprise.

Learn how to get the people do for you and expand into business empire. This is the simplest way to come out of generational cycle of poverty. Break open the vicious cycle of seeking job and sticking to it for life. Do teach your children that the resources of world, mechanism, govt, professionals are all there to serve you better.

Same Yardstick May not be Good for Everyone

    (i) The one who just did 10th:

Nitish and Jyotish as you are just starting out your career efforts and because you are more technology savvy than your elders at home, you are free to Explore your NICHE. You both already have your own sites and you have Wealthy affiliate as best training resource available across web. But decide on your NICHE fast and keep taking action.. one blog post daily and alongside SEO everyday!

If you cannot decide on your NICHE Yet, start out with the syllabus of UPSC, read thoroughly and post a blog everyday. Better, if you do it chapter-wise and paper-wise, jumping on to every other paper now and then may not help solidifying your knowledge.

Keep a watch on fiverr and Upwork as to what skills are making most money. Learn those skills alongside.

The Corona time and after is not something you will have least choices left for traditional jobs. The crisis is insisting you for a forced entrepreneurship. You start creating job for yourself and others.

(ii) Who are doing UG / PG Degree

Niche decided for Career101.in is best One for you to work on for multiple reasons. First, you have already got a superficial knowledge of how general studies work and how it can lead to cracking prestigious civil services. As you already have a basic knowledge researching over the Topic on the web and creating articles of your own should not be a difficult Job for you.

Yes Basic SEO and Effective Communication is something you would need mastering along the way. Combined this all you both will have a SOLID alternative career in case you fail to make it to Civil Services.

(iii) You all are at Right Age to Go for IAS/UPSC- It is Upto You However!

My always going after you and haunting you is something will not work in the long run. But I can say with all my confidence that each one of you have the basic temperament of becoming an IAS. Thing is that you will have to follow the path I already outlined above and discussed with you many times earlier.

Alternative Career first. Fall back option first. My idea is this try to become successful at one and you will be successful at others. Success is a habit and so is the failure so make success a habit from the beginning itself.

Blogging gives you the expertise to write a variety of things in most effective way. If you stick with blogging for few years, you kind of become very comfortable in writing on just about anything as you get expert in the language manipulation and this is what UPSC wants.

Secondly, over the 5 years from now you will have created an income stream for yourself that will keep your morale up. I have seen many students losing their morale when after taking two three attempts at UPSC they are not able to make it. We have example of it in our extended family already.

Advantage of having an alternative career is that when you take UPSC you are not fearful of failing at it, you are bold from within and this reflects in your writings at answer paper as well. It is my personal experience that whatever I have done, was all possible because I had already made a back up option. I was never NIL financially. At one point of time in Delhi I even had funded two my roommates in their preparations.

UPSC or Entrepreneurship Both are a Long Haul and Take a ROUTINE Efforts

Both the things drain out your energy as you start working towards, so you would be required maintaining a healthy ROUTINE. A routine in first place that is plausible and doable on a everyday basis. It is following in the simplest terms if I can communicate you:

Listening to any audio or video which inspires you – For 15 minutes before you start your day and before you go to bed. (This raises you in high spirit and brings clarity in your ambitions).  English of course, would be the preferred language for listening /watching videos, the reasons are very much obvious to you.

Daily Exercise that sweats you hugely and then Yoga, Pranayam and Meditations- These all activities in your routine promote good physical health, Sharp Memory and mindfulness.

What You All are Missing Out Most, to make Use of?

If I have felt most depressed out of any missing thing in my life was the lack of someone around whom I could approached to, for getting clarity on issues/ confusions going on into my head. The confusions/dilemma of practical life are difficult to be resolved to your satisfaction. Until you have a mentor whom you could really count on for guiding you, your problems are not solved yet. And remember, who can be your best mentor—any family member who has been through all the situations as yours and remains always concerned about you.

My indications are obvious. In your case I qualify being the best of the possible mentor for you. But, unfortunately I am never shared with what is going on into your head and what is holding you back from taking a giant stride in right direction.

What on the earth is the obstacle that is crippling your plans and you feel tied with.? Remember until you share with me your issues, they are going to remain with you and only put down your performances.

I am not among those elders in the family who are least bothered about the inputs from youngsters. I am a parent of 21st century and highly accommodative in thoughts. I guess fear runs in your mind that if you happen to share your issues and if the solution is provided to you, you will be forcibly asked to act upon. If this is the case, it means you are not honest with your problems and hence you are not honest to your career.

Accepting someone as Mentor, means following the advices too! And until you allow this to happen any breakthrough in your life /career is NOT possible.

If not me, get someone else, but I am sure I am not replaceable yet !

  • How to Learn anything Fast, Effectively and Master the Game

Learning anything faster using smart techniques and master the skill as soon as possible has real tangible advantages in 21st century. We all are living the era that offers us the gadgets and tools that constantly buy our attention. We are less focused and more distracted.  Smartphones to my understanding is keeping most of us under impression that we are getting smarter but the fact remains other way round.

Today, the man is bombarded with information and get caught in the INTELLECTUAL ENTERTAINMENT instead actually getting into state of learning. The common folk today is under impression that it is getting smarter, in reality though, it’s smartness and alertness being taken away as the community is getting enslaved to devices. The majority rarely does CREATE anything by applying mind’s power of creativity. Consequently, potential of the mind goes untapped for long and finally we get forgetful, a mental state, precisely being termed as ‘DIGITAL DEMENTIA’. In this age we are so dependent of smart gadgets that most of us turn to the smartphone for a simple sum.

Learning anything effectively and mastering is dependent of our state of mind, the state of our being present, the mindfulness and alertness of mind. To learn any discipline in today’s world will require detaching ourselves from bombardment of Information and of course judicious and conscious use of smartphones. Be it anything: a language, computer science or playing piano you ll need focus, concentration and a disciplined use of your smart gadgets. If you are not using your devices  mindfully to your advantage, it will start abusing potential of your brain.  Thoughts on this post are inspired by my study of many resources here and there. Below are few resources which have inspired me the most to come up with instant post.

    1. How to learn anything fast- Nishant Kasibhatla : Link here!

    Crux of the lessons is:

    (i) Conventional Schooling teaches you “What To learn”. There is no emphasis over “HOW to LEARN”. As everything on the planet can be learnt, you can also learn and master” How to learn”

(ii) Invest 2X amount of time in output/implementations, given X is the amount of time invested by you in learning something.

(iii) LEARN => REFLECT => IMPLEMENT => SHARE is the correct order to learn anything effectively and mastering that.

(iii) Unless you are able to Summarize, Share or TEACH anything learnt, You have not mastered the the stuff.

    2. Unleash Your Super Brain to Learn Fast- Jim Qwik: Link Here!

    (i) All learning are state dependent. To learn anything and retain the same for long you have to bring your brain in alpha state.

(ii) Information + Emotion = Long Term Memory

(iii) Emotion here is meant by the best state of mind.

(iv) Alpha & Theta are considered best states of mind. Alpha is most receptive state (absorbing fast during you favorite show in a TV) and Theta is most Creative state (Taking shower for example) of mind

    (v) Formula to Learn Faster: B.E   F.A.S.T.

B- Belief    (all behavior is belief driven)

E- Exercise (As your body moves, your brain grooves)

    F- Forget (Drop your pre-conceived notions )

A- Active ( Learning is not Spectators sport, Be active. The human brain and the mind doesn’t learn by consuming information, it learns through creating and co-creating)

S- State (All learning is state dependent. I never wanna learn in a bored state, right? )

T- Teach ( Learn with the intention of teaching somebody else and find an opportunity to actually do that )

(vi) Children are fast learners: Secret: they play their heart out. Playing increases Neurogenesis and Neuroplasticity. If you too like increasing Neurogenesis and Neuroplasticity you too can raise your receptive power of learning. Remember, playing only means – Physical activity and not just paying anything.

(vii) Bringing your state of mind into most receptive state can be triggered by feelings of gratitude, generosity, kindness, calmness, joy, happiness. Allow activities in your routine to create these emotions for BETTER Learning.

    3. How to learn Anything Fast – Josh Kaufman: Link here!

Crux of the lesson is this:

    (i) Pre commitment to push past the frustrations for first 20 hours. Basically this is first 20 hours time you commit yourself to spend without caring about the possible results.

For Example: Just in case of learning a foreign language: Devoting an hour 2 times daily in “learning to speak/rehearsing to speak”  Purely focused, undivided attention could be an example of pre-commitment. You are supposed not to make any assessment of your gains before 10 days as the pre-commitment essentially means you will save keep yourself from frustration arising out of any assessment & analysis-paralysis syndrome.

(ii) The basic skill learnt would form the foundation for your advance skills. Any layering would be done over this foundation as you would commit for next 20 hours.

(iii) In fact you don’t need 10,000 hours to master a skill/art as claimed by famous 10000 hours theory.

(iv) Skimming the common things from diff resources gives you an idea what does the Basic Skill looks like. These common things are most important skill sets to be learnt first. Mastering is the art of layering of skill one over another.

    4. How to Use first 20 Hours of Your Learning Anything New: Josh Kaufman: Link Here!

    Crux of the Lessons Learnt:

    (I) Deconstruct the skill. Decide what you want to be able to do when you are done. And then look into the skill and break it down into smaller pieces.

(II) Learn enough to self correct.. instead procrastinating on practice because of multitude of resources still to be gone through… just start practice and self correct/self edit.

Make learning as a way of getting better at noticing mistake when you make a mistake and then doing something a little different

(III) Remove Barriers/distractions to Practice.. phones TV etc so that you actually sit for practice

(IV) Pre-Commit to Practice for at least 20 hours. Get over the emotional barrier of letting yourself feel foolish or Frustrated.

(Of course, you got to get things available in place first so that your resource are at EASY access.)

The major barrier to skill acquisition isn’t INTELLECTUAL, it’s EMOTIONAL! In the beginning of learning anything new you feel really stupid and hence we say it emotional barrier. But put 20 hours into anything Come what May.

    5. A Conducive Mental State for Faster Learning is in Your Hand

    (i) Include physical exercise and sports that requires your complete physical involvement

(ii) Asanas, Breathing Exercises, Meditation post physical exercise.

(iii) Use PMA (Positive Mental Attitude ) Video, Podcasts, Books

(iv) LOVE your brain (better explained here by Jim Qwik )

RELEVANT Read: The Famous JAM Technique to Improve English Speaking

  • How To Improve Your English Speaking With JAM (Just A Minute) Technique

Improving your English speaking with JAM (Just A Minute) technique is being heavily promoted by teaching experts for quite some time. The technique is nothing new but owes root to one of the game show organised on BBC radio that expects the participants to speak “without hesitation, repetition or deviation” for sixty seconds. The idea is so basic that you can use it in improving various skills.

Speaking instantly without hesitation and still sounding logical, meaningful and convincing is something every employer wants you to be good at. Basically, starting out instantaneously to speak requires you to be adept in recollect the ideas, interconnect and synthesize the information in an un-interrupted flow. When there are too many applicants for a position and employer have to screen the best out of the flock, they can use the the JAM technique.

So, How do You Make Use of the Tricks of “Just a Minute”

Just a Minute to improve your English speaking involves using certain steps. In fact, you can use the technique to improve speaking of any foreign language.

For the sake of clarity we break it down in four steps:

    1. Choose any topic, whatsoever to speak on for continuously sixty seconds
    2. Then you identify the piece of idea used in your speaking and write them down. Break down those few ideas in further small pieces
    3. Now you start speaking once again go on speaking for another 60 seconds
    4. Once again recollect all the idea units and try to interconnecting them all in your mind map. Repeat the speaking for yet another 60 second by better synthesizing the information. Use this stage for recording your speech and listen later.

The biggest problem that you might face is the feeling of awkwardness one has in while listening to one’s own speech. If you can overcome this awkwardness and be persistent in your efforts for weeks and months, improvement is bound to follow in. Check this Youtube video for better understanding the concept:

Breaking Down the Topic in major Categories Before You Start:

Few other experts suggest you break down the topic into three – four units, few seconds before you start out. The units could be like: What/How/where, Perception and your take.

For example, take the topic of “Unemployment today”.

So, the breakdown of the topic could be like:

    • What/How/where of the employment
    • Perception- may be misconception of employment
    • Your take on perception

Check this Youtube video wherein you are taught to break down the topic in categories. The video is about how can you become more effective in delivering your speech using JAM technique.

Bonus 1 to JAM: Strategy to Improve English Speaking

If you are really serious in improving your communication skill, I would suggest that you work out on your habits of listening and thinking. If you can once align your listening and thinking pattern properly, the improvement will soon be actualized.

I suggest two videos to be watched:

    1. Align your thinking pattern correctly: Check it out in this video !

The essence of the video is here: (i) Get comfortable talking to you on: the activity you are doing, the things you see around, the parts of body you see/touch, mind map of the to-do list in the office/conversation expected with colleagues/clients, an object in your room /office [You can use JAM] (ii) Avoid using Bilingual Dictionary- Use instead, English to English Dictionary (iii) Describe a WORD if you cannot recall that exact word during a conversation. This might feel awkward but it helps (iv) Do write down your experiences on a daily basis in a diary and try being innovative in using the words (v) Create a Mantra in English for example “I am amazing and I am excited about learning more English today” or “I am really proud of all the English that I learned today.” respectively for starting your morning or winding up your day.

    2. Three Big Mistakes in Your English Listening: Check it out in this Video!

The essence of this video is here: (i) Listening is not reading.  Do not use your brain during listening an English Conversation in the same manner as you use while reading  (ii) Stop Translating- Do not involve your brain in translating the English conversation in your native language (iii) Expecting 100% comprehending the entire discourse. Its never possible, so better you don’t engage the brain to comprehend 100% of a speech. Just allow the brain get an impression of what is being spoken.

One piece of suggestion though, I would like to place on record that trying to follow too many strategies delays your improvement. Yes, this I can say based on my experiences with many of our colleagues who were ever  into improving their speaking skill. It is therefore advisable that you follow the strategy listed above religiously and you can become unstoppable. ( Disclaimer to my suggestion is that you should not stop reading more and more on phrases, vocabulary etc. )

Bonus 2 to JAM: Anchor Stuff You Could Reckon

The YouTube video can best be utilized by using their Transcription Mode. Just tap the transcription menu of the video and get the maximum benefit out of it.

  • How the Unpredictability of Family Members Killed Me- Literally!

The post has a bearing with one of the recent incidents in the family on Sept 2nd 2019. More precisely, it occurred in the night of September 1st that actually went through the morning hours of Sept 2nd. And, I was informed in the morning of Sept 2nd around 9 am by Lalita, my second eldest sister. The moment was also the very next morning of Teej festival and I was getting ready for my office.

Why I needed to make a mention of all this is because almost everybody in family has forced me live through a constant panic and a state of uncertainty.

Whenever I have had a counselling with a family member to better his/her life prospects, the very next morning or only a few days down the line, I have learnt that things are going in same messy manner. It felt me as if, my suggestions and aspirations are least bothered about.

The precise, incident of Sept. 1st was that Suresh, my brother in law and husband to Lalita had attempted to hang himself. The reason as I was explained by Lalita was an altercation and hot exchanges after Suresh returned home drunk in the night of Sept 1st. Being the occasion of Teej, Lalita was on a fast for entire day followed by night and wasn’t expecting Suresh to come home drunk.

Most strange part, was that only a day before, precisely on Aug 31st, Lalita and Suresh both had come to my residence in Navi Mumbai for a meet which was an overdue. Lalita had come to Mumbai a week back to see her husband when she learnt that Suresh had suffered certain injury in his hand after falling from the terrace of his rented house in a drunk state.

The message in the early morning of Sept 2nd shook me so badly this time around that I lost my natural instinct to call up Suresh or to discuss the state of affairs with anybody in the family. It impacted me from the very core and kind of got caught in sheer despair. It reminded me all the incidents as to how my aspirations have been shattered by one and all. Be it Satyendra, Babuji or Guddi.

For the most part, my expectations are hammered out by Satyendra so to speak and when his activities were silently permitted by Babuji, made the things all the worse.

Till Satyendra was in school, he did lot of things unexpected of a boy from an average middle class family. Running away from the hostel, dropping the school, running away from the class and roaming around in study period all were his favourite pastime.

I used to be seriously hurt by all this. As I wanted him to do good in academics as I was not fortunate enough to get all the basic facility of studies in my school years and the college time was even more struggling. I wanted him to do good in studies, get into medicine and later to sit for UPSC as I missed all these things in course of chasing to meet the requirements of family.

In fact, the expectations that I had was based on certain assumptions, it was not baseless. I had got him a good school and a better environment than all of my sibling could get. I also kind of relied on his capabilities for I saw the toughness in him essentially required for getting into medicine or IAS. Because, the very basic facilities very belied to me by the family situations, so I dreamt of getting my own dreams fulfilled through his achievements.

During his 8th or 9th, I came to Mumbai with leaving him under the guidance of Parents. Seeing his hyperactive approaches, I persuaded parents to settle in Telaiya. The things however, went on going like unguided missile. His 9th and 10th of schooling got even more pathetic. Babuji didn’t pay due attention to his activities and whenever I had a time to visit Telaiya, my suggestions were not taken seriously either by Babuji or Satyendra upon my return.

When I used to learn [at Mumbai] that things were not in control and satyendra was not at all adhering to any of my suggestions as far as his routine and studies were concerned, I had many times confronted with Babuji. But all he told me was that, all the fingers of hand could not be equal nor they had to be.

Wasting time with friends in many different activities was something that led him to a poor state of studies. His interests later turned to biking and got a sports bike purchased by cleverly convincing Babuji around the time when he passed his 10th board. Things further went on going wrong side. Insisting for 10+2 science from Grizzly and dropping that too, sensing the studies was not of his cup of tea, was another major self destructing move for him.

I remained seriously hurt by all this. He went on changing to 10+2 commerce but again was not focussed to his studies. Somehow he was able to score good at 10+2 to which again he used as a tool to give impression to parents that they need not worry.

Once he did his 10+2 in 2016, I offered him a chance to improve upon his studies and sent him to Patna for coaching and academics too. But inputs again started coming in that he was visiting Telaiya too frequently. I again felt seriously wretched at all this. One good thing that happened to him and to the family also was that sending Patna kept him away from legal complications that could otherwise arose during an offence done by one of his street friends.

By learning his frequent visit to Telaiya and poor attention to studies I had almost stopped passing on any suggestion to him. In the meantime during March 2018, when I had been to Telaiya to see Babuji having stuck up in a depression kind of mental stage, got to know another startling fact that he was yet to complete few chapters of maths in coaching. Amazingly, this was the the scenario when he was given uninterrupted opportunity from July 2016 to March 2018. I was aghast to learn that if 10th grade maths coaching took him so long to finish, was there any point in keeping him away from elderly father who had gone into shock out of an altercation with villagers.

I pleaded him that he stayed back in Telaiya and stood close by father in whatever he did or wherever he went. I worked out an elaborate planning with him for future course of his career, Amarendra’s studies and the course of all family member in general. Also, asked him that he could take Rs 50K from father’s savings to buy a bullet bike as he would be the person to always accompany father and because riding bullet was part of his ambitions. For rest of the price, I had advised him to pay in EMI from his own earning on the side as he was supposed to accompany father in his profession and profession was to be adopted by him eventually.

But again, too my utter shock he convinced father to pay entire price of Bullet bike and discontinued going with father. Upon my enquiry with father and other family members I was kept in dark that things were going as per my suggestions only. Owing to huge debt for home at Navi Mumbai I was kind of devastated to learn all this. Most paining part was that Amarendra’s studies could not be worked out as per my plan. I was shattered at all this development for which Satyendra was in a central role.

This was a major setback which turned around the direction of many of my plans. Satyendra was at least 22 then and deceiving a guardian who has been in the main role of earning bread for entire family and changing the fate of family from Gurha to Telaiya was an unbearable pain for me. This was sort of causing damage to my belief in blood relationships and family as a concept. I had to conclude that I could not expect anyone to stand by me in fighting the odds that aimed providing the entire family a respectable living.

Then came the shock from Guddi in Feb 2019. Literally, I got my heads spinning to have learnt the choices made by her to take her life forward. I was completely shocked to learn the priorities of a post graduate girl who somehow saw her future with a person with no academic background, an uncivilized and a doubtful identity. However, this incident impressed upon me necessity of a much required communication in a friendly manner. I had left the interaction and counselling things for young ones on Kavita. And that was my mistake for she wasn’t in constant touch with the growing boys and girls in the family.

The shocks from Babuji have always been regarding implementation of decisions taken jointly with me. And, also hiding from me the certain decisions taken or incidents happened that affected peace and well being of family. Unfortunately, the decisions and incidents were brought to me either by my mother or sisters when the situations grew out of proportion and unmanageable at Babuji’s end. My instructions and suggestions however since 2004 were in place for everybody in the family that incidents be brought to me as and when it occurred.

If I am to jot down every act of un-trustworthiness from siblings and hiding of the instances by babuji,  the list can go on and on. These all have pushed me back in my fight to uplift the family. They have added to my wooes. And, why I call them unpredictability is that they all came to me at different point of time as a shock and unexpected tremors to be most precise.

Many things in life are a conscious choice. The difference between people who have more of what we all want and those who don’t, is that those who attain success are willing to go through more uncomfortable moments, learning experiences, and humbling situations to get to the other side. Dinner out, happens too often and not enough all at the same time. Love to eat out with the fam, we have a plethora of great restaurants to choose from in Victoria. This is taken at one of our favourite restaurants @moxies_victoria. I had to poke Scotland to get this laugh, she was trying to mean mug in the photo. [fam- family]

    # Happy Mother’s Day, to all the awesome mothers out there… I certainly know of an amazing one @jannakirsten!

    # Cruisin’ with my backpack. ? People ask why I am wearing a backpack in many of my pictures/stories. The reason isn’t because I am still in grade school or going to university, this is means to livelihood. It is my reality that my business/work comes with me wherever I go….even on vacation. I like to fill all the gaps of the day, doing something somewhat productive (not always the case though). ?

#I was trying to pose for an #instagram photo, my wife made fun of me for doing it, then I laughed. That is what is captured in this picture. My posing career lasted a total of one photo. Total flop.

#You can probably recognize the “cliche” backdrop here in Vegas, one of our favourite places to travel and a place that we have been more times than we can count over the years. Although we do business in Vegas annually, it is fun to travel there on a “non work” related trip. This pic was taken from our last trip to Vegas and we are going to have to do a redo when we head there in a few months.

Under appreciated talent. The mariachi bands in Nuevo Vallarta were incredible, and likely highly underpaid for their performances. I took this pic on our Mexican Festival night, after a few shots of tequila (of course). If I could eat dinner to a mariachi band every night, I definitely would!

  • Snaps of Writing Styles I Would Love Incorporating in My Own

Writing Styles are specific to individuals much like the individual ways of speaking. You and me have our own unique ways to express same thing. However, few combination of words or phrasal orders do sound so lovely and express so effectively an idea that you can’t stop yourself imitating that. Accordingly, in my learning journey, I went on picking snaps of some styles from various sources which I came through.

    1. To Get there

Of course, it takes a lot of work and brain power to get there, but it’s possible, and that’s just crazy. The weirdest thing is that you don’t have to even reinvent the wheel to get there. It’s not like you have to develop a new smartphone to compete with Apple, or even think of a new app idea like Fortnite.

    2. Drawn to It

The problem with automation is that many people are drawn to it because it makes things easier or more efficient. There are many ways to do things easier in life, but the end result isn’t always better.

    3. Cheating the System / Gaming the System

This is called gaming the system and Instagram can easily determine which accounts are doing this and give them very little exposure.

This is why you see people with 100,000 followers that get 300-400 likes. It is because they are cheating the system, and they ultimately have little to no clout.

    4. Touted by + IMO

Concepts like automating social media posts are touted by typical online gurus as a way to make easy money, but the WA strategy of creating value, and building your business within the guidelines of services like Google or Instagram is really the right path to success IMO.

    5. Catch Up

Though I’ve achieved “success” in affiliate marketing, there’s always something more to do. It’s frustrating at times because it can feel like you never “catch up“. There’s always a next level, and never a time to relax.

  • Compendium of Confusing Phrases that Took Me Reading Twice to Make Out

Confusing phrases below are the collection of certain phrases, I found difficult in understanding in first read. If you get to know them correctly, they can be useful in beautifying your written expression. At, times you might mistake these phrases for some thing they don’t actually stand for. So, read on:

    1. Something You Please

A permalink could include your domain name (for example: https://mahendrayadav.com) plus what’s called a slug, the piece of the URL that comes after the domain name. This might include a date or a category or anything you please. (Anything you wish ) …. Yoast SEO

    2. Make Out

Here is how Collins Dictionary Explains about ‘make out’
(i)If you make something out, you manage with difficulty to see or hear it.
(ii)If you try to make something out, you try to understand it or decide whether or not it is true.
(iii)If you make out that something is the case or make something out to be the case, you try to cause people to believe that it is the case.
    Examples:
They were trying to make out that I’d actually done it.
I don’t think it was as glorious as everybody made it out to be.
He’s more business-minded than he makes himself out to be.
He was never half as bad as his teachers made out.
(iv)If you make out a case for something, you try to establish or prove that it is the best thing to do.
    Examples:
You could certainly make out a case for this point of view.
Alice continued making out her case.
(v)When you make out a cheque, receipt, or order form, you write all the necessary information on it.
    Examples:
If you would like to send a donation, you can make a cheque out to Feed the Children.
I’m going to make out a receipt for you.
(vi) If you ask how someone is making out, you are asking how well they are doing with a particular task, or in their life in general.

    Examples:

Who is making out better right now?
Bob turned over to sleep again, wondering how Jupiter and Pete were making out.
(vii) If two people are making out, they are engaged in sexual activity. [mainly USinformal]
    Example:
The investigation was in possession of some pictures of the couple making out on the beach.

    3. You’ve Got Another Think Coming

This phrase has to be paid due attention given the fact, that people often use “another thing coming”.  which is wrong. However, the ‘another thing coming’ version has become so commonplace that it can only be a matter of time before it becomes accepted. There are also views that “another thing coming” is also correct.
When someone says “if you think that, you’ve got another think coming” what the speaker is meaning is “if you think that, then your thought is wrong, you need to have another one”.

    4. They Say that..

    You might come across sentences like “people say that success never comes easy”, which is not correct version. Instead, the correct version is “they say that success never comes easy”. Lets see few other examples;

“They say that every snowflake is different. If that were true, how could the world go on? How could we ever get up off our knees? How could we ever recover from the wonder of it?   … Jeanette Winterson

Check out some odd snaps of writing style. They will further help you out in strengthening your expression.
